Add an optional picture to your post for thumbnail view, and the embed code of the video, found on most streaming video sites. Don’t worry about resizing the video embed code’s width and height as this will be done automatically. if no picture if given, the default it used.

Your video post must be tagged with the tag ‘video’ or it will not be shown on the front page.

After you log in, you should see the dashboard with links going down the left-hand side (or, if you’re already viewing a page, you’ll see a new menu along the top with a link to the dashboard).

From the Dashboard, you’ll be able to navigate to anywhere you want to go in the blog, create or edit new pages, etc. (Don’t mess with too much otherwise you might break the site, but creating posts, adding videos, etc is fine). Feel free to take some time to look around and familiarise yourself with the dashboard and it’s menus

Create a Post

To create a new post, click the ‘Posts’ item in the menu and then click ‘Add new’. This will bring up a new page which is fairly self explanatory.

The Page title goes in the field at the top, and content goes is the big field below.

To add a pic, click on the small ‘add an image’ icon where is says “Upload/Insert” (hovering over those small icons will bring up text telling you what each of them do).

Once you upload a pic, you can choose it’s size, orientation, etc and if you would like it to be placed directly in the post, click the button, “Insert into post”. By default, it will be placed where your curser was but it can be moved by being dragged. bear in mind that our page size is limited, so don’t make your images too big.

Continue editing until you are finished but before you publish it, remember to give your post it’s appropriate tags and place it in a category (don’t leave it uncategorised!).

Once you’ve done that, click the ‘preview’ button on the right to open a new window where you can check how everything looks. if there is a problem, come back to the first page to fix it. If it all looks good, click publish and hold your breath.

Please Note: If a Featured Image is not chosen, the first image in the blog is what will be shown on the front page. To upload a ‘featured image’ use the settings box below:
